Uzuma Chocolat Signature Exotic Box is $49: Originally from Chicago, this was one of the few that arrived after the date of the tasting panel in January and was not included in the top pick. Chocolatier Amanda Sanabria has a great gift for creating a fierce burst of bonbon fruit flavours, including PassionFruit and Lemon Pistachio. Though not as complicated as Melissa Coppel and Croiser’s similar bonbons, Lily’s mastery of fruit stuffing puts it on a very short list. “The verdict: this is one of the chocolatiers to watch,” wrote one taster after the panel.

$75 Andson 24 Piece Chocolate Box: Suitable for the Legacy Beverly Hills Chocolatier, this is a beautifully packaged box, a square mix of shiny bonbons and chocolate decorations. The molded bonbons made the biggest impression whether they were bright passion fruit, orange, guava, or rich mirrors patterned after gingerbread biscuits. The United Flavors 24-piece Chocolatier selection is $89: This was a delayed arrival and missed the evaluation by the full tasting panel.
