12 Best Laptops of 2025: MacBooks, Windows, Chromebooks, Copilot+ PCS
Other good laptops to consider
Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition (Copilot+ PC) $1,300: The first Intel-based Copilot+ PC (7/10, wired review) We are winners in all respects, boasting excellent AI and graphics performance and the best battery life we’ve seen on Intel hardware. A slightly strange 15.3-inch screen hits a high point without breaking the bank, but the fans are noisy and the system can put you pressure more than you want.
$1,100 for the Asus Zenbook A14: This is one of the lightest laptops I’ve ever tested, thanks to Asus’ Ceraluminium Material. ZenBook A14 (8/10 Wired recommends) is also the first A-Series laptop from the company, employing Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X chipset. This laptop has excellent build quality, portability and excellent battery life for sports, but the chipset is not glossy and is only suitable for average web browsing tasks.
Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED $900: Unlike the ZenBook 14 OLED, this 14-inch machine features OLED panels for a reasonable $1,000 price. Vivobook s 14 (8/10 Wired recommends) It is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 Series 1 chipset with 16 GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. You can stand to make the screen brighter, but it handles most everyday tasks without any problems. Battery life is fine. It reaches up to 12 hours on average use. Unfortunately, the machine is a fingerprint magnet so I always wipe it off. There are many ports.
Dell XPS 14 and $1,500 for XPS 16: Dell’s 2024 XPS laptops (7/10 Wired recommends)It is aimed at Windows users with je on MacBook. The design, specifications and sizes are perfectly aligned with Apple’s products. Both the XPS 14 and 16 have gorgeous, refined designs, and a wonderfully bright and sharp OLED screen ( 120 Hz screen refresh rate), and quick enough for everyday tasks. Unfortunately, when it comes to more intensive tasks like video editing, the MacBook benchmark runs circles around the XPS 14. Both the XPS 14 and 16 are beautifully designed machines. Heavy gamers and video editors will want to see elsewhere, but most use cases are well-capable. They are expensive for what you get, but if you don’t mind paying a premium for first class build quality with a clean and eye-catching design, the XPS 14 and 16 are solid laptops.
Acer Chromebook Plus 515 $399: This is a 15-inch Chromebook Plus model (8/10 Wired recommends) Use the same internal components as Lenovo and recommend above. This has a battery life of 8.5 hours of full screen video playback time. ACER offers an HDMI 1.4 output jack instead of Lenovo’s MicroSD card slot, so you can choose this if you want to provide presentations frequently or use HDMI ports. There are also small people Chromebook Plus 514 ($380) That’s also great.
Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra Fack 3,000: There are many things I like here (7/10, wired review), but the price. it hurts. At least you’ll get what you pay for, along with the new Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, the current top-top processor in Intel’s Core Ultra CPU lineup, as well as the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070 graphics card. The 16-inch AMOLED 2,880 x 1,800 pixel touchscreen was spectacular in work, and the performance blew away everything else I tested from the water. But the price.
Acer Swift is 14 for $1,000: This is very similar to the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED, a top budget laptop. We found that Asus is a little faster and has much better build quality, but Swift Go offers excellent performance, especially considering the price (7/10, wired review). It also boasts an impressive 15-hour battery life. The downside is the speaker, which isn’t very good, and overall my body feels a little dim. However, this is the cheapest Intel Core Ultra Laptop we’ve tested for a few dollars, so if you’re on a tight budget, Swift Go is worth considering.
Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x Copilot+ $1,200 on PC: Lenovo’s Svelte Slim 7x (7/10, wired review) Not exciting, but it offers the best price-to-performance ratio of many Copilot+ PCs we’ve tested. Fans tend to run loudly, but battery life and performance are outstanding.
Microsoft Surface Laptop (7th Edition, 2024) $1,600: Want to have a window laptop directly from the horse’s mouth? Buy the 7th edition of the surface laptop (7/10, wired review). It performs well as its battery life, giving you a smooth 120Hz display. It’s too expensive for what you get. Please read us Best Surface Laptop Guide more.
