Rescuers were searching Thursday after 43 people were missing in rough seas overnight. A ferry carrying 65 people sinks Near Bali, an Indonesian resort island.
KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya sank almost 30 minutes after leaving East Java’s Ketapang port late Wednesday, the National Search and Rescue Agency said in a statement. We headed to Gilimanuk Port in Bali, a 30-mile trip.

The ferry carried 53 passengers, 12 crew members and 22 vehicles, including 14 trucks.

Two bodies were recovered and 20 people were rescued. Many of them are unconscious after a few hours of drifting in choppy water, Banyuwangi said Police Chief Rama Samtama Putra.

Nine boats, including two tugs and two inflatable boats, have been searching for people who have been missing since Wednesday night, fighting waves of up to 6.5 feet in the darkness of the night.
