Bruno Fernandez is the “perfect captain”
Bruno Fernandez is the “perfect captain” for Manchester United, says manager Reuben Amorim after the midfielder hit a hat-trick in the much needed Europa League victory over Real Sociedad.
Fernandez kept his cool to score penalties after Real Sociedad opened up a score.
Diogo Dalot completed the victory offering a welcome boost and set up a quarter-final clash with Lyon.
“When we need it, he’s always there,” Amorim said.
Bruno Fernandez currently has the most goals in the history of the Europa League. 41 (24 goals, 17 assists)

“In the set piece he can change positions, he can move the ball forward, score goals and make the transition as shown today in the final 10 minutes of the game.
“He can defend, so that’s the perfect captain for our team and we need to help him win the title.
Wingback Patrick Dorgu was praised after telling the referee that Hamari Traore’s late challenge against him was not a spot kick as the decision was overturned.
Asked if he liked Dolg’s sportsmanship, Amorim said with a laugh. I’m very proud of him because that’s the right thing to do…but it depends.
“I can’t say I have the same response whether it’s 0-0 or we’re losing it. He was improving during the game.
“He’s learned a lot from that position. He has physicality and obviously can play in our league, so it was a good game and a good action from Dorg.”
As United advances, LA Real Head Coach Imanor Alguacil returns to raging along with referee Benoit Bastien.
“We didn’t deserve such a judge’s performance,” he said. “But we didn’t have this connection either. We didn’t do this stadium either.”
