Russia and Ukraine agree to a ceasefire in the Black Sea
Delegation from Russia And Ukraine on Tuesday agreed to a ceasefire in the Black Sea following talks with Trump administration officials in Saudi Arabia this week.
“The US and Russia have agreed to ensure safe voyages, eliminate the use of force and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea,” the White House said in a statement following consultations in Jeddah.
Similarly, a little later, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who leads the delegation, confirmed that “all parties agreed to ensure safe voyages, eliminate the use of force, and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea.”

He also emphasized that “all movements of all Russian military vessels outside the eastern part of the Black Sea would constitute a violation of the spirit of the Agreement, but are considered a violation of the Black Sea’s safe voyage and commitment to ensure a threat to Ukraine’s national security.”
“In this case, Ukraine has the right to fully exercise the right to self-defense,” he added in the readout following his speech in Riyadh.
The Kremlin also reportedly proposed Tuesday, but may be willing to fully implement the ceasefire until it is approved by the swift international banking system.
