Samsung Electronics CO-CEO Han Jong-Hee Dead at 63
James Fishler, Senior Vice President of Samsung Electronics America, will be unveiling the company’s latest products at Claman Countdown.
Samsung Electronics CO-CEO Han Jong-Hee passed away Tuesday while undergoing cardiac arrest treatment, the company said.
He was 63 years old.
Samsung said in a regulatory submission that newly appointed co-CEO Young Hyun will take over and assume the sole responsibility. Jun was just appointed Co-CEO last week after leading the company’s semiconductor division.
Han is also head of the company’s Device Experience (DX) division, joining Samsung in 1988 and spent nearly 40 years leading Samsung’s television business. As Head of the DX Division and Digital Appliance Business, he was believed to have helped the company grow despite the challenging business environment.

He began his career at Samsung in 2011 as product head of the Visual Display Business research and development team.
In 2022 he was appointed CEO of one of the world’s largest electronics producers. He was also responsible for the company’s consumer electronics and mobile devices divisions.

“First and foremost, I sincerely apologize for not meeting your expectations of recent stock performance. Over the past year, we have not been able to properly address the rapidly evolving AI semiconductor market,” Han said.
