Don Hasselbeck’s death: Super Bowl champion dies after a heart attack


Don Hasselbeck plays nine years of Super Bowl champion tight end NFLHe died after suffering cardiac arrest at his home, his son said Monday. He was 70 years old.

Matt Hasselbeck, son of former NFL quarterback and elder Hasselbeck, remembered his father in an X post.

“He was a great husband, father, grandfather, friends, coach, athlete, colleague, artist, mentor and storyteller. Despite being a Colorado national and Raiders Super Bowl champion, what we are most proud of is that he was the leader of our family,” he writes.

“He placed our feet on solid ground. He married his mother Betsy and built a house on the rock of Jesus Christ for 50 years. Our Father’s Prayer Magazine holds each of his meticulous handwriting and our names and needs.

Don Hasselbeck was his second pick in the 1977 NFL Draft. New England Patriots. He played for the Patriots until 1983, when he was traded for the Los Angeles Raiders.

He played 14 games with the Raiders and appeared in each of the playoff games in preparation for his Super Bowl victory with the Washington Redskins.

Hasselbeck then spent a season with the Minnesota Vikings. New York Giants Before he retired.

“There’s a 6’7 hole in our heart. He’ll be so overlooked by so many. We’re grateful that he is our father, we look forward to heaven and we look forward to being together again,” added Matt Hasselbeck.

Both Don Hasselbeck’s sons, Matt and Tim, both performed in the NFL.

He had 107 catches for 1,542 yards and 18 touchdowns in 123 career games.
