Openai’s Stargate Project is aiming for international expansion

Stargatethe $500 billion project, led by Openai, Oracle and SoftBank, is building US AI data centers and other AI infrastructures, looking to invest in the UK and elsewhere. Financial Times Report.

Stargate was originally launched as a way to boost American AI infrastructure, but the project is said to be looking at international expansion. In addition to the UK, Germany and France are on the table as reported by the Financial Times.

Stargate, like its original sales, is clearly focused on the US at this point, but is in the process of raising its initial $100 billion. SoftBank is planning to raise hundreds of billions of dollars as a mix of debt and fairness.

When Stargate was announced in January, President Donald Trump praised the initiative as a “declaration of trust in America.”
