The former NM judge was banned from the bench after TDA members were allegedly arrested at home
The former New Mexico judge, who resigned last month after a member of Tren de Aragua was arrested at his home, is no longer able to serve on the state bench again.
On Tuesday, the New Mexico Supreme Court ordered Joel Cano “will never hold the Judicial Bureau again, he will not be a candidate for the Judicial Bureau, and will not be able to exercise state judicial authorities, including serving as judicial office at weddings.”
The court was scheduled to listen to oral discussions about the disciplinary case this Thursday, but now that the case has been resolved, the discussion is in vain.
Cano served at Doñaana County Magistrates’ Court cross. His resignation letter, obtained by Fox News Digital, dates March 3, but an AOC spokesman said it had not been received by the Supreme Court and the Third Judicial District Court until March 31st.

Kano’s resignation letter said his last day at work was March 21st.

On February 28, two search warrants were executed at a family inspector identified as owned by Kanon’s wife, Nancy Kano. Ortega Lopez and his roommate were taken into custody, and the agents “confiscated four firearms from April Cano’s residence.” April Cano is the daughter of Nancy and Joel, court documents say.
Ortega Lopez was discovered by investigators equipped with weapons in a social media post. Some of them said it was owned by April Cano, who “allowed him to hold various firearms and sometimes shoot them.”

Ortega Lopez admitted Illegal entry into the US According to court documents, it was from Mexico in December 2023. He allegedly told investigators he lives in an El Paso apartment with five others when he met Nancy Cano “to install a glass door for her.”
“He went on to do some work for Nancy Cano and after being kicked out of the apartment in April 2024, Nancy Cano provided her ‘casita’ behind the residence she shared with her husband, Joel Cano,” the court said.
