BW Energy finds significant oil with Gabon’s Bourdon prospects


Exploration and Production (E&P) Company BW Energy has discovered considerable oil in Bourdon prospects within Dussafu License Offshore Gabon.

The second sidetrack DBM-1 ST2 WELL revealed promising results, estimated that around 25MBBL is set to 56 million barrels (MBBL) of oil, which is considered to be recycled.

The first data show that oil from Bourdon Field has the lowest viscosity, between an average of 3.5 cent poises (CP).

This is advantageous compared to the viscosities of 5cp and 7cp measured in hibiscus/tote and louche fields, respectively.

Further evaluations of logging data and formation pressure measurements confirmed wages of approximately 11.2m within the overall 35.2m hydrocarbon column in the GAMBA layer.

The well, drilled by a nove jack-up rig, reached a total depth of 4,731m.
