Marienne, a single mother, met Joe in season 3 at the San Francisco Library, where she worked. However, after learning that Joe had killed her ex-husband, she fled the country and headed for Paris. Joe eventually catches up to her on a work trip in London, but he surprises her by making her leave unharmed.

As Joe is still estimated to be dead in the US, he adopts the name Jonathan Moore and has earned a job as a professor of English literature. Joe soon falls into a wealthy social group, including art gallery director Kate, who will catch his attention. However, things become troubling as members of the group are targeted by “rich” murderers. That was made even worse by the fact that Joe has his own stalker.

Joe suspects Killer is Rhys Montrose (Ed Speleers), a popular politician and friend of the group. As Joe confronts Rhys, he learns that Rhys, whom Joe talks all season, is in fact a figure of his imagination. Joe didn’t actually let Marienne return to Paris. Instead, he locked Marienne into the cage. Joe believes he will leave her there and die. Luckily, one of Joe’s students, Nadia (Amy Lee Hickman), touches on his plan and teams up with Marienne to forge her death. Marienne gets one of the few happy endings on the show, leaving her out of danger, heading home to her Parisian daughter, as Joe thinks she is dead.

Joe Psychic Splitas Netflix calls it, his breaking point. The imaginary Reese untook Joe and encourages him to give to his murderous desires. The season ends in New York with Joe and Kate together, giving Kate’s family a new empowerment, and is even more dangerous than ever.
