Eddie Hearn has expressed concern about Hamza Sheilaz and predicts a difficult, ultra-middleweight debut against the horrifying Edgar Berlanga
Eddie Hearn foreshadows a bad night for Hamza Sheilaz when he faces Edgar Berlanga in his super middleweight debut on July 12th dazn ppv In New York City. Hearn, who was promoting Berlanga (23-1, 18 KOs), says he will “win” his battle with Sheilaz (21-1-1, 17 KOs).
Benefits of Berlanga size
Berlanga’s super middleweight and huge size for power is why Haan chose him to defeat Sheilaz. He reportedly rehydrated to 193 pounds in Berlanga’s defeat to 168 pounds champion Canelo Alvarez, unified on 14 September 2024. He looked huge in the ring against Alvarez like a cruiserweight. In Edgar’s previous battle with Jonathan Gonzalez Ortiz, he looked even bigger.
Sheilaz looked bad in his final fight and was awarded a controversial 12-round draw on February 22 at Riyadh on February 22nd against WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adams. Many boxing fans thought he deserved to lose.
Hamza also looked vulnerable in his battle with Austin Williams in Riyadh on June 1st last year. He won the fight with an 11th round knockout, but was staggered early by Austin. Surprisingly, Turki Alalshikh has not given up on Sheeraz and puts him in the main event with Berlanga on the New York card on July 12th.
If Sheeraz loses this fight, it will become increasingly difficult for Turki to continue including him in his non-qualifying career. He’s never beat a good guy, so it’s where he should fight. I don’t think Austin Williams is a good middleweight.
Question about Sheraz
“That’s a good fight for Edgar. I think Hamaza Sheilaz is a bad fight for the first time to go to super middleweight. Edgar is a big super middleweight and he can really punch him. Boxing Socialgave his thoughts on Hamza Shearas, who rose from 160 to 168 to fight Edgar Berlanga in his first contest in the Division, held in New York City on July 12th.
“But, look, Hamza is rolling the dice. Shakur is also a really good fight against Puero against Zepeda, Morel and Mattias. It’s another great night,” Haan said.
