Trump 100 days: “very close” to Asian trade transactions
Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent said the US is “very close” to trade agreements with India and other major Asian partners.
Ministry of Finance Scott Betting The US said on Monday it was “very close” in entering into trade agreements with India and other major Asian trading partners.
Bescent issued a statement with White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt at a press conference Tuesday morning. The pair outlined President Donald Trump’s economic success in the first 100 days and defended tariff policy in questions from reporters.
“Vice President Vance was in India last week. He and (Prime Minister) Modi have made such good progress, so we can see some announcements about India. We can see the outline of the deal with South Korea being put together.
“I think we’re very close to India,” he said repeatedly.

Bescent went on to say the trade deals will narrow the “opening of uncertainty” in the market that has been unpredictable since the release of the tariffs on Trump’s release date.
Nevertheless, he added that certainty is “not necessarily a good thing during negotiations.”
Tuesday’s briefing was the second time this week that highlighted Trump’s success in his first 100 days. Leavitt also appeared in a Monday morning briefing alongside Border Czar Tom Homan It highlights the administration’s efforts to combat illegal immigration.

The ongoing tide wave of the administration is the largest deportation operation in American history, the pair said. Leavitt added that it was just the beginning and a “sign of what’s going forward.”

“Even President Obama and Clinton have been working on border guards to some extent, but Biden said “the first president in the country’s history has taken office and intentionally fails to protect the border.”

He then touted the significant reduction in illegal immigration that Trump had achieved in just a few months.
“When 96% less people come (beyond the border), how many women are not sexually assaulted by the cartel?” Homan said. “How many children do not die on that journey? How many women and children do not have sex traffic in this country? How many terrorists have not made it in this country? How many pounds of fentanyl is not in this country to kill young Americans?”
