Chelsea striker’s apology “sufficient” and disciplinary action will not be faced

Chelsea boss Sonia Bonpaser says apology from striker Sam Kerr is enough and the club will not take disciplinary action following her lawsuit.

The now-injured Carr allegedly caused racially aggravated harassment after calling a metropolitan police officer “silly and white” after the incident in Twickenham on January 30, 2023. It turns out to be innocent.

After the incident, the 31-year-old apologized “for poorly expressing what a traumatic night is.”

Bompastor said: “Sam made a statement, apologized, and I think that would be enough.

“Everyone can make mistakes, that is what you learn and that is how you move forward.

“What she was facing last week was difficult enough for her, so all she wants to do as a club is to support her.”

Kerr, who has scored 95 goals in Chelsea’s 122 appearances since 2019, has not played since January 2024 after suffering a serious knee injury in training camp.

Bompastor said it was “hard to give you an accurate time frame” for Kerr’s return, but she said she was “going well” in training.

The trial heard that Kerr and her partner Christie Mewyth were forced into the Twickenham Police Station by a taxi driver.

Kerr said she and her partner feared their lives and in an explosive exchange accused one of the police officers of being “silly and white.”

The Chelsea striker, who commented on PC Stephen Lovell, did not deny using the term “silly and white,” but it was the equivalent of a racial crime.

“Who she is doesn’t reflect what I heard in court or what I read in the newspaper,” Bonpasar said.

“Sam, she’s really shy and just wants to live a life. She doesn’t like being in the light and shining. She’s a real normal person and she likes to be quiet. ”

Bompastor said he was in contact with Carr during the trial, but he said, “We really know her, perhaps the people who know her best, along with her family.

“It was hard to see her in that situation. We were family and we were really supportive. The verdict was positive and I’m really pleased that she can move forward now.”
