Alaskan authorities are searching for the lost Bering plane
They said on Thursday (01:00 GMT) that a “delinquent” aircraft operated by the airline Bering Air was notified at 16:00 local time.
The 10 people on board consisted of nine passengers and pilots, according to an update from the Alaska Department of Public Safety. There was no immediate information available as to who was on board.
The volunteer fire department at Landing City Gnome told the pilots that they “were going into the holding pattern while waiting for the runway to be cleared.”
The BBC contacted Bering Air for comments.
Provided information about the search and rescue mission, CoastGuard said the plane was sent to search for the last known location of the missing ship.
Search planes containing special equipment for finding objects and people with no visible conditions fly in grid patterns over water and coastlines.
Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage also sent flight support.
