The fiery Wyoming pileup inside the tunnel has at least two deaths

The Wyoming Department of Transport said on social media that it was “in the process of assessing tunnel infrastructure” with a team of geologists and bridge engineers.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:37am at the westbound Green River Tunnel, causing a fire inside the tunnel.

“My heart is broken for the family and loved ones of this victim. Awful crash“Wydot Director Darin Westby said in a statement. Wydot and WHP remain on the ground to assist local emergency responders and provide additional support and traffic management.”

The highway remained closed in both directions on Friday evening, with the eastbound lanes of the tunnel being used to staging the first responders.
