What to stream on TV this weekend: “Nine Perfect Strangers”, “Siren” and more
I’ll talk about Star Power. this week Streamingsome of the best actresses of our time have appeared in some hotly anticipated new shows and films.
On Netflix, Julianne Moore leads an incredible cast in Sirens, a new dark comedy series that plays an unning, seductive social circle with one of her employees under her spell. Co-stars of White Lotus Megan Fahi. And on Hulu, equally fascinated Nicole Kidman returns Masha Dmitrichenko, a wellness guru with nine perfect strangers on Hulu. After the season 1 event, we thought she might have gone out of business by now. Also, this week is her last showgirl. The film starring Pamela Anderson gives Baywatchstar her most critically acclaimed role, streaming exclusively on Hulu.
For something a bit more family friendly, it’s a new man’s action-adventure magistery starring Oscar winners Natalie Portman and John Krasinski as brothers hunting their siblings, along with the Apple TV Plus youth fountain.

Best New TV Shows and Movies to Stream This Weekend
Netflix
Sirens is a new Netflix Limited series starring Julianne Moore, Meghan Fahee, Millie Alcock and Kevin Bacon. The dark comedy stars Fahi as Devon, a woman who arrives in a wealthy resort town in search of her younger sister Simone (Alcock). She finds that her sister’s boss, socialite Michaela Kel (Moore), appears to have Simone under her (wealthy and privileged) spell. When Devon tries to intervene with Simone, Michaela proves to be a difficult enemy. The entire series will drop on Thursday, May 22nd.
Fear Street: Prom Queen (May 23)
Three Fear Street films were released in short order in 2021, each focusing on the mystical town’s Shadyside and eerie, bloody history. Well, things haven’t changed much on Shadyside. This means that evil is lurking. This time we’re in the hall of Sheddyside High as a beautiful young candidate who starts to drop like a fly. The cast includes icons from teen films such as Lili Taylor and Chris Klein, as well as Indian Fowler, Susanna’s son, Katherine Waterston.
Big Mouth, Season 8 (May 23)
Raunchy Adult Animated Show Big Mouth is back for its eighth season this week (which officially becomes the longest-lasting series on Netflix). The show is filled with comedians such as John Mulany, Nick Kroll, Jesse Klein and Jason Mantzokas, lending their voices to a group of middle schoolers and a group of hormonal monsters who seem to control them. Guest stars this season include Cynthia Eribo, Quinta Brunson and Holly Hunter.

Pee Wee as Hisself (May 23)
Before his death of cancer in 2023, Paul Rubens, also known as Pee Wee Herman, sat down with filmmaker Matt Wolf and provided over 40 hours of interview footage piecing together for the new two-part documentary Pee-Wee. The two episodes drop in succession on May 23rd, featuring Rubens’ candid conversations about his life and career, and intimately looking at real people who are closely related to the characters he created.
Prime Video
Ryan Phillip leads the cast of Prime Video Show Motorheads, a new series that infuses street racing action from The Fast and the Furious of-age-age-age Drama. Prime Video will drop all 10 episodes of Motorhead’s debut season on May 20th.
Hulu
9 Perfect Strangers, Season 2 (May 21)
Nicole Kidman continues to be Hollywood’s hardest-working woman (she has appeared in four films and four films in the past year), and a new season of Hulu Hit Nine Perfect Strangers has arrived. In the series, Kidman plays Masha, a wellness center leader. The new season features a whole new cast of characters who have participated in Masha’s latest retreats in Austria, including Henry Golding, Mark Strong, Lena Orin, Annie Murphy and Christine Baransky. (It was a closely guarded secret whether or not the cast of one other season would return). The show premiered on Hulu on May 21st.
The Last Showgirl (May 23)
Pamela Anderson won praise for her performance in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl. This is a drama about an aging Las Vegas performer who has been expelled from Revue, where she worked for years. The film begins streaming this week with Hulu, co-stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Kiernan Shipka and Dave Bautista.
Apple TV Plus
Young people’s fountain (May 23)
Guy Ritchie’s latest action-packed adventure is a youth fountain that debuted on Apple TV Plus on May 23rd. This adventure film features Natalie Portman and John Krasinski as brothers in their quest to find the mythical fountain of young people. film co-stars Donnall Gleason, Isa Gonzalez and Stanley Tucci.
