Wilder is too rich for Allen’s scraps
Dave Allen is working hard for a gold fight against faded former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. Currently promoted by Eddie Hearn, Allen (24-7-2, 19 KO) believes he can defeat the “bronze bomber” and he hopes to agree to the fight.
Wilder has other ideas. He is interested in fighting Anthony Joshua, Olexandre Usaik, Andy Lewis or Francis Ngannou if he wins the reconstruction battle against Tyrell Anthony Herndon on June 27th. These are big pay for Deontay.
Wilder’s PPV Day is over
39-year-old Deontay (43-4-1, 42 Kos) is desperate to keep his declined career alive after he went 1-3 in his final four fights. He stopped his reception at major PPV events with consecutive losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang in Riyadh.
Allen (24-7-2, 19 Kos) is a British domestic level heavyweight long in a career that has attracted a lot of attention with Johnny Fisher’s fifth knockout on May 17th in London. He wants to use that victory to speak himself in his payday battle with Deontay.
“I believe I can beat him. I told Eddie (Hern) and I’d like to do that by the end of the year if possible,” Dave Allen said. ring About his interest in fighting former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
Deontay avoids low-level scrap
Wilder, 39, loses three of his final four fights and faces the lesser-known Herndon in Wichita, Kansas. Deontay will be interested in fighting another non-contender, like Dave Allen, to give him a favor. There is no money in the fight of that nature unless Turki Alalshikh wants to get involved. He probably isn’t because it’s a low level fight.
“Deontay Wilder needs to google me at some point and find out who I am,” says Allen. “But when he watches, he probably thinks I’m an easy fight, so maybe it could happen. I have a contract for two fights. So I want two stable fights.
Allen needs to focus on more realistic targets, such as Frazier Clarke, Fabio Wardley, Moses Itauma and David Adeleye. Even if Deontay’s career is essentially over, he’s still out of Allen’s league and won’t notice him. Wilder already has a wealth of net worth, estimated at $30 million. He is not interested in this kind of low-paid scrap to help Allen.
“Don’t box a simple guy and moan at me. Let’s make some money. Then I’ll put Wilder in the box. Everyone puts it in the box. I really don’t care,” Allen said.
