Phil Robertson passed away on Sunday at 79 after a health battle, but the legacy of the founder of Duck Commander goes back much further than his A&E reality series.
Louisiana native Robertson spent more than 50 years ago in 1972 in a college football career at Louisiana Tech, where he founded a hunting company after he previously served as the starting quarterback. Terry Bradshaw I took over for him.
“I said, ‘Bradshaw, here’s the deal. You’re a big strong kid, you have strong arms, you want to play in the NFL, and you want to play football,” Robertson said. In 2020, Robertson was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame as an outdoor man, newspapers reported.

Robertson’s Duck Commander Empire includes duck phones, hunting videos and apparel.
His son Jace Robertson explained how the duck commander empire began.
“My dad was hunting at Lake Moss (Arkansas-Louisiana) in 1972. “He told his dad, ‘You don’t just call the ducks, you’re ordering them.’ That’s where the duck commander started. ”
In him Memoirs of 2013 “Happy, Happy, Happy: My Life and Legacy as a Duck Commander,” Robertson wrote about how he was mostly raised.

“I miss a time when life was simple,” he wrote. “I came from a humble, humble beginning. As a young boy who grew up in the far northwest corner of Louisiana, I was only six miles from Texas and ten miles from Arkansas, and I had little in terms of personal possessions.
“I miss a time when life was simple. It came from a humble, humble beginning.”
Robertson married his high school lover, Miss Caiin 1966, they had four sons and 16 grandchildren during their nearly 60 years of marriage.
Robertson also has a daughter who grew up from events that took place several decades ago in the 1970s.
He revealed that he found out he had five years ago that he had 45 year old daughter, Phyllisfollowing the DNA test.

Robertson immediately said “I’ll take her down” after his son called and said his DNA was a match.
“It’s a pretty cool description of red, reconciliation, love,” Robertson said on his “embarrassing” podcast at the time. “After all, 45 years, you have a daughter you don’t know, and she has a father you don’t know. 45 years won’t sound that long, but it’s been a while.
Robertson’s sons with Miss Kay include Alan, 60, Jace, 55, 53, Jules, 46.
The Robertson family It became a common name in 2012 when they became the subject of the A&E reality series, “The Duck Dynasty.” The final episode aired in 2017.
In addition to “The Duck Dynasty,” Robertson also created the outdoor channel series “Commander Duck,” and his life was the subject of the 2023 film “The Blind: The True Story of the Robertson Family.”
Robertson was open about his methods I discovered faith In the mid-1970s, in 2019, he told Fox News Digital that he recklessly needed salvation.
“I had no faith until I was 28,” Robertson told Fox News. “Here I’m talking biblically – God said I had control over evil things. I didn’t know that. I was high and drunk at their worst. …I made a track record that wasn’t good. Then I said, “What were I thinking? …I came to know Jesus.”
In his 2019 book, The Theft of the American Soul, he called for religion to be brought back to American culture, but he admitted that he had to hit the bottom of the rock before accepting God as his personal Savior.

“At first, I’m trying to get better,” he explained. “I’m learning how to get better. My friends, my old friends, come in and they say, ‘Let’s get on board. Run down the road.’ I said, “No,” my faith was separated from them.
He said he has since dedicated his life to helping others.
“(My wife and I) go to them. Rehabilitation. Prison. oppressed prison. No one is gi. Homeless,” he said. “When we meet together we have food. We meet together on Sunday mornings. … Those who sleep under the bridge can come in.
Last December, his son Jace revealed to them “Emotional” podcast The Phil was in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. He also said at the time that he also had some blood disorder, although not yet diagnosed, “causing all sorts of problems.”
On Sunday, his family celebrated his life after confirming that he had passed away.

“We celebrate today with our father, husband and grandfather Phil Robertson being with the Lord,” his stepdaughter-in-law Corey Robertson wrote on Instagram.
“He frequently reminded me of Paul’s words: “You will not grieve like people who have no hope. I believe that Jesus died and rose again, so I believe that God will bring Jesus with those who have fallen asleep.”
She said, “We are grateful for the grace, bold faith, and for the love and prayer of many who breathed life into his life saved by everyone who heard the good news of Jesus. We are grateful for his life on earth and continue our legacy of love for God and to others.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson, who represents Louisiana, wrote that he was grateful for the “extraordinary legacy of one of Louisiana’s favourite sons,” and that countless people said he was influenced by his life and mission.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders wrote that he “written as a living example of what God can do in all of our lives.
His son Willie shared his tribute His Instagramwrite partially: “He taught me a lot in life, he taught me almost without saying a word. I saw him and knew that he understood so many things. Most importantly, he taught me the value of sharing my faith with others.
He said the last thing his father said to him before he died, “You are my brother.”
