Many former staff members say they still find it difficult to reconcile the allegations with the guys they know. “These accusations are surprising to me. I’m sure it’s for a lot of our circle,” says Jeffrey Walker, a close friend of Combs, who was part of Bad Boy’s original production team. “I’ve been to white parties and of course studio sessions, but none of the things he was accused of fell to my eyes.”
Evans was also skeptical of some of the claims until he saw footage of Cassandra Ventura, former Combs partner in 10 years, who was brutally beaten by a rapper at a hotel in Los Angeles in 2016.
Ventura was the first to su Combs in November 2023, claiming she locked her into a cycle of abuse, violence and sex trafficking during her relationship. Combs settled the lawsuit the following day for a private amount.
“It’s not the first time I’ve seen that temper,” Evans recalls, recalling the death threat he says he witnessed in 1997. Who threatened the employees?
