LA officials condemn ice arrests targeting workers from multiple companies

US Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) has carried out operations across businesses Los Angeles On Friday, authorities threw flash bangs to disperse the crowd as it caused protests and clashes outside at least one location.
The Associated Press reported that immigration advocates have confirmed that at least 45 people have been arrested at seven locations. The location included two home depost stores, a fashion district store and a donut shop, according to Angelica Salas, executive director of the Humanitarian Immigration Rights Union (Chirla).
Videos of the operation, filmed by bystanders and TV news crews, showed people escorted across the parking lot at Home Depot. The video captured a clash between protesters and federal agents on detention sites.
KTLA escorted aerial footage of agents outside a clothing store in the fashion district from the building towards two large white vans. The individual was taken into custody and tied his hands behind his back. Before being put into the van, the agents saw the dab on the detained individual.

Agents performing the operation wore vests equipped with FBI, ICE and HSI (Homeland Security Survey).
In one video, authorities were able to escape in vans, SUVs and military-style vehicles as officers saw people throw smoke bombs and flashing bangs into the street.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on the business that ran in Los Angeles on Friday.

HSI spokesman Yasmeen Pitts O’Keefe told the Los Angeles Times that federal agents are running search warrants related to illegally hugging people around the country.
Still, local and state officials raised issues regarding federal agencies’ actions on Friday.

“Our community is under attack and is terrified. These are workers, these are fathers, these are mothers, this has to stop,” Saras said while surrounded by crowds with signs of protesting the ice. “Now we must stop immigration enforcement that terrifies our families throughout this country and greets the people we love.”

While police were found at the scene Los Angeles Police Station (LAPD) Chief Jim McDonnell said his officers were not involved in civil immigration enforcement.
“Today, LAPD has recognized federal law enforcement agencies have been operating in the city of Los Angeles. I know these actions are causing anxiety for many Angeleno, so I want to make it clear: LAPD is not involved with citizens. Immigration enforcement“The Chief said in a statement posted to X.
McDonnell also said the policy since 1979 prohibited police officers from simply launching law enforcement actions to determine the status of people’s immigration.
Instead, he added that the LAPD is focusing on initiatives that will improve the quality of life for all urban residents, regardless of the immigration situation.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said in a statement to X that she has contributed to the city in many ways, as mayor of the “prideful immigrant city,” she said she was “deeply offended” by the actions taken by the federal agency in Los Angeles on Friday.
“These tactics inhale fear into our community and disrupt the fundamental principles of safety in our cities,” Bass said. “We don’t support this.”
Bass told reporters Friday, “When they get here, we’re going to fight for all Angeleno, whether they have paperwork or not. We’re an immigrant city, and this will affect hundreds of thousands of Angeleno.”

“These indiscriminate attacks prove once again that the Trump administration cares nothing but instills harm and fear in our community to lead immigrants into the shadows,” he said in a statement shared with X.
