Jai Opetaia smashes Ko to stop Claudio Squeo and stops Eyes Ramirez unification after a brutal victory

IBF and ring cruiserweight Jaiopetaire (28-0, 22 KOs) floored the unfortunate Claudio Squaeo (17-1, 9 KOS) in a brutal five-round technical knockout Sunday night at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia.

On the first knockdown, Opetaire connected with a hard body shot in the fourth round, and a tired blushing Squareo descended from the pain. Squareo made it out of the round by clinching the Opera. He had taken a bad shape from that point on.

Oetia breaks Squareo’s jaw

It was pure target practice for Jai after the knockdown, and Italian Squareo was too short and slowly exhausting to absorb the repeated left wing.

The second knockdown was the fifth, when Opetaire landed a right hook that was thrown full force at Opetaire’s head, which quickly sank into his knee, counted by referee Robert Hoyle. Jay realizes he broke Squareo’s jaw.

Opera was 40-36 on all four scorecards at stoppage late in round five. Squareo couldn’t land anything in the battle because of his short stature.

Jai’s defect: heavy left hand

When he tried to engage, Jai left in a way that retreated when he was attacked, like Dmitry Biboru. However, Opetais’ attack on Squeo was left hand weight in very little combination, indicating that he didn’t want to hit.

Targeting the unification of Gilberto Ramirez

After the fight, Opetaire said he wanted to fight WBC and WBO champion Gilbert “Zurdo” Ramirez next to a unified match. But if you want to help Ramirez lead this dangerous battle, it’s thanks to the promoter, or perhaps Torki Arlacik.

It is doubtful if Gilbert would want to plague his battle with Jai after a victory like Tonight’s Run. Later this month, Ramirez will defend Uniel Dorticos on June 28th. Therefore, if he wins, Opetaire will have to wait until the smoke clears from that fight before he can potentially set up a unified match against Gilbert.

If the Opera is unable to fight Ramirez and other cruiserweight champion Badow Jack against him, his promoter will need to find a better opposition for him to fight. The 34-year-old Squareo was chosen from near the bottom of the IBF rankings at #14 Spot and was completely visible from his depths in this fight.

You need top candidates for overpayment

This division has far better candidates than Squeo discovered for Jai. Even if Opetaire has to surrender a portion of his wallet to get these fighters, he has to.

Ideally, his promoter should invest in him by overpaying top candidates to head over to him. How else is Operatea popular? Fighting with canned tomatoes like Squeo is not going to do that. This is because this battle was hardly talked about outside of Australia.
