The escaped pet zebra After an eight-day search across Tennessee County, I met the owner again.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office announced in a Facebook post Sunday that “celebrity Zebra Ed” was “safely rescued.”
“The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office was pleased to report the Tango 82 air crew at Zebra Ed and returned him to owners’ Sunday,” officials wrote in the post.
The runaway zebra was found near the interstate 24 inches in a meadow near the Buchanan Estate plot,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

The rescue video shows the “Zebraed” being lifted high in the air by a helicopter from a wooded area.
Officials say “Zebra Ed” originally arrived in Christiana on May 30th and was reported to its owner a day later to be missing.
Sheriff’s office The owner did not say how, where he obtained the Zebra, or where he was housed at the time of his escape.

Deputy Ryan Keach found a zebra near the interstate and closed one lane of traffic on May 31 to help travelers feel safe, the sheriff’s office told Fox News Digital.
“rear Zebra Over the interstate, deputies closed both eastbound lanes towards Chattanooga and westbound lanes towards Nashville,” the agency said.

“Zebra Ed” was not found again for several days after the May 31st sighting, officials said.
Before Sunday’s rescue efforts, Ed was rediscovered on Friday, June 6th, on a field near Ridgewood Drive, Christiana. The sheriff’s office announced that deputies were looking at him through drone cameras and were working with the veterinarian to safely rescue the animal.

“We don’t want to scare Zebra,” said RCSO Cpl. Sean White said. “It takes time to calm him down.”
The sheriff’s office did not reveal what “Zebra Ed” would be next.
