Trump’s travel ban on 12 African and Middle Eastern countries is now in effect

President Donald Trump No travel The United States, which is made up of 12 African, Middle Eastern and South American citizens, came into effect Monday.

The ban signed last week applies to citizens of Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.

It also places high restrictions on people in Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela who do not hold valid visas outside the US.

This order does not cancel visas already issued to citizens of the country.

This was supported by Tommy Piggott, a leading deputy spokesman for the State Department. At a briefing last week, Piggott said, “This is a national security obligation.”

“We cannot make open migration from countries where we cannot safely and reliably examine and screen people who try to enter the United States,” Trump said before signing the ban.

“So today, that’s why I’m signing a new executive order that imposes travel restrictions on countries including Yemen, Somalia, Haiti, Libya and others,” he concluded. “We do not allow people who want to harm us to enter our country, and there is nothing that prevents us from keeping America safe.”
