Wade Miley deals with claims in Tyler Skagg’s illegal death lawsuit

Cincinnati Reds Pitcher Wade Miley was recently tabbed as one of the suspects of a drug supplier for Tyler Scuggs before he died of a 2019 overdose.
Ryan Hamill, former agent of Skaggs; I said it in the deposit Earlier this week, Skaggs told him he was using painkillers that included oxycodone, which was provided by Miley.
The deposit is part of an unlawful death lawsuit filed by the Scuggs family against his former Los Angeles Angels. Skaggs and Miley were teammates of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2012 and 2013.

Miley addressed the issue briefly on Friday.
“I hate what happened to Tyler. That’s terrible. My thoughts are with his family and friends,” he began. “But I’m not going to sit here and talk about anything that anyone might have said about me or anything else. I was not a witness to any of this. I’ve never been accused of misconduct.”

Miley, 38, has not faced criminal charges and is not the first time his name has been mentioned in connection with Skaggs’ death. During the verdict stage of Kay’s case, prosecutors used records of conversations between Kay and her mother. Kay said Miley is one of Scuggs’ drug suppliers.
Former New York Mets ace Matt Harvey admitted at Kay’s trial that he had supplied Skaggs with drugs. The two were teammates with Angels in the year of Scuggs’ death.
Harvey, CJ Cron, Mike Morin and Cam Bedrosian also said in court that they were given drugs by Kay.
Harvey and three other players also testified that they received the drug from Skaggs, explaining the use of recreational drugs they witnessed along with the angels.
Miley signed a one-year contract with the Reds on June 4th, starting twice this season. He underwent surgery on his left elbow in May 2024 by Tommy John, and signed a minor league contract with Cincinnati in February.

Scuggs was 27 years old before the Angels played the Texas Rangers in a hotel room in South Lake, Texas.
