Lee Carsley got frustrated after Slovenia held in Goreless stalemate after being under 21 in the UK

Lee Carsley admitted his frustration after his England Under 21 side was tied up by Slovenia in a goalless draw this afternoon.

The young Lions started slowly, but then dominated only by a series of fine saves from goalkeeper Martin Turk, keeping England at bay.

Türkiye’s best save was in the second half injury time, tilting the Jack Hinshelwood header over the bar.

There was a lack of quality – Carsley

Carsley told Channel 4: “I was frustrated. It wasn’t a lack of effort. There was a bit of quality at times. I had a really good opportunity.

“We have to give Slovenian credits too, and they have become very difficult for us.

“We didn’t start fast, we were under pressure in the first 15 minutes. It was important that we didn’t get admitted that it was really positive.”

England currently scores four points from two games in Group B, knowing that points against Germany on Wednesday are enough to see them.

“The goal is to qualify for the group and we are still in the course,” Carsley added. “It’s really important for players to recover. I think it’ll definitely refresh the team for the German game.”

McAtee switches attention to the final group game

Captain James McAtee quickly turned his attention to the German match.

“We’re disappointed, we won here, but that’s the point and we’re still in charge of (qualifications),” said the Manchester City midfielder.

“We don’t think there’s a lack of plays in general. It was just a chance. We missed some. We had big saves from the keeper.

“We’re back now and interacting, seeing a bit of family and ready for the next game.”
