Alexander Arnold expresses pride in his Real Madrid debut.
Trent Alexander Arnold expressed pride in Real Madrid’s debut despite his disappointment in a 1-1 draw with Al Giral.
Madrid was the second best in the Club World Cup opening game in Miami for a long time, but took the lead from Gonzalo Garcia’s 34-minute goal.
Al Giral kept the point with a slow save from Fede Valverde from 12 yards after Madrid was awarded a controversial spot kick through a penalty from Reuben Neves and goalkeeper Bono.
It was Alonso, who had been in charge of his first game since replacing Carlo Ancelotti, remained frustrated as was the debutants of Alexander Arnold and Dean Huyssen, following the moves from Liverpool and Bournemouth, respectively.
Still, Alexander Arnold then states: “That was very proud of me, and I am very pleased to have made my debut.
“I am extremely proud of the achievements, but of course I am disappointed (with the results) by the mentality that comes with being a Real Madrid player.
“You want to win every game, but of course, there’s something positive to take, especially in the second half, along with new coaches, new players, new ideas, and the foundation was laid out to win the next game.”

Alonso reflected Alexander Arnold’s feelings about the second half of the rise.
“The second half was much better than the first,” Alonso said at a post-game press conference. “We didn’t have a lot of things in the first half, but there was no balance, and we talked about it.
“I liked the reaction. We changed the rhythm, had more control and played more in the opposite half. It’s a process. We have to take the positives and ask for improvement.
“We knew it would take time. There are things we need to change. We have to fix them. We’ll keep doing that. It all took time, there was nine days and some players had three training sessions.
Madrid was not there to Killian Mbappe due to the group H collision due to the fever, so Alonso could not provide insight into whether he could face Pachuca on Sunday.
“We don’t know,” Alonso said when asked about Mbappe’s potential return.
“We have to see how his recovery goes. He has been sick with the virus for the past two days.”
