PSG 0-1 Botafogo: Champions League winners were shocked

PSG was at the end of the real Club World Cup shock as Botafogo on the Brazilian side won 1-0 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

The winners of the Champions League dominated the whole thing, but were unable to find a way.

The goal came in the 36th minute when Jefferson Sabarino slid the pass to run to the goal.

Jesus beat two defenders and his shot was removed from Willian Pacho, allowing him to see goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnalma flattened and the ball was skipped to the net.

Jesus jumped over the barrier and was celebrated and was attacked by a paranoid Botafogo fan.

PSG scored 19 goals in the final five games and scored the ball in the net in the 79th minute, but the goal was taken out of choke offside and Botafogo was held for a shock victory.

The Brazilians became the first team to stop PSG scoring since March, when Liverpool beat 1-0 in the Champions League. The French side scored in 19 consecutive games.

Botafogo coach Renato Paiva said his team defeated PSG in his game.

“It’s a great team, they play together, everyone defends, everyone attacks. That’s the big secret of this PSG team. So they compete and win,” he said.

“They’re a great team. I said this, PSG is a lesson for everyone these days. And I’m just going to be a team, play together, attack together, defend together, have fun. And they did that.

The victory gave the South American champion a significant boost in hopes of moving on to the knockout round after beating the MLS Side Seattle Sounder 2-1 in the opener.

PSG, who hit Atletico Madrid 4-0 in the first match, tries to bounce against the Sounders when Botafogo returns to the Rose Bowl again and on the same day as Atletico.

Four teams in Brazil’s 32 club tournament have been unbeaten so far, and Paiva said he has shown the strength of the game in the South American country.

“I think it’s the quality of the players in Brazil, the quality of what people do in Brazil, especially the coaches,” he said.

“Brazil will always be Brazil’s world football.”
