Concha Sol Hearing Aid Review: An Outdated Feeling

It is available at Concha Labs I’m making it In-store hearing aids Since 2017, one product marketing, Concha Sol.

hearing aid Have a classic behind the scenes composition with familiar designs and simple rocker controls on each back. Concha is particularly promoting customizability. Although Sol comes in four colour options and can be made up of lead wires of four different sizes, it is important to note that many competing hearing aids have lead wires that can be adjusted with the fly and replaced with larger or smaller ones.

At the time of ordering, Concha works to convert hearing aids into ear size, skin tone and hair color (if you’re lucky, if you have the left), maximizes the chances they blend in and fit properly. We received a gray model with the longest available lead and measured the weight of these devices at 2.03 grams. This is extremely lightweight for behind-the-scenes hearing aids.

Replaceable battery

The main reason behind such a lightweight is the replacement battery, the biggest drawback of SOL. It’s a bit of a non-starter in today’s hearing aid world, and it’s amazing that Concha Labs is still sticking to a fade power model where users need to fumble by sliding on a new pair of new, small batteries every 5-7 days. Replaceable batteries offer much longer lifespans than the best rechargeable cells (and the lighter ones mentioned above), but they’re a hassle that you’ve barely enjoyed. (The last study I’ve seen since 2021 showed that 70% of hearing aid users prefer rechargeable hearing systems. )

Assuming that you’re OK with a replaceable battery system, Concha Sol does a lot for them. It starts with tuning. Concha does not use preset sound profiles like most OTC AIDS. Preset profiles are forward frequency waveforms based on thousands of historical hearing tests people have taken over the years. These audiograms are averaged, and a handful of representative audiograms are loaded into the hardware. Once you take an in-app hearing test, the app will know which of these audiograms is closest to yours and load the appropriate fixes into your hearing aid hardware. It’s not perfect, but it’s enough for most users.

Concha has an audio test built into the app, but it’s completely different from the typical auditory test where you listen to ping at different frequencies and volumes until the full picture of hearing loss occurs. After some initial level settings, Concha’s system, called Soundscope, listens to repeated speeches (with each ear) to listen (with each ear) and asks you to determine if Sample A or Sample B is the best. It’s like an eye exam, just your ears.
