The world of sports lament the loss of the former NHL Player Guido Tenesi. He was 71 years old.
Tenesi rose to stardom after portraying Billy Charle Boyce in the sports comedy film Slapshot in 1977. American Hockey League The Hershey Bears franchise expressed sadness on Thursday.
“It’s sad to learn that Guido Tenesi, a member of our roster, had passed away during the 1974 Calder Cup Championship, and Bears knew more in his role as Billy Charle Boyce in the classic hockey film “Slapshot,” which he wrote in a social media post.

The cause of death was not immediately announced.
The Pittsburgh Penguins drafted Tenesi in the fifth round of the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft. He also spent time competing in multiple professional hockey leagues, stinting for two years with Penguins minor league affiliates in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Tenesi won the North American Hockey League title when he played for the Johnstown Jets during the 1974-75 season. Tenesi recalled his time with the team and how it helped him win a role in classic sports films.

“I played for the same team as Ned Dowd, Dave Hanson and Carlson. Ned was walking around with the tape recorder and taking notes on everything that happened on one of our road trips.” Utica Observer-Dispatch. “If someone stumbles on the ice, or if a player breaks a stick and throws it on the glass, Ned recorded it.”
The plot of “Slap Shot” followed the story of a minor league failure team named the Charles Town Chiefs. Actor and director Paul Newman portrayed coach Reggie Dunlop in the film.

Steve Carlson, who also appeared in the film, lamented his late co-star Tenesi as “a good guy who went straight away.”

“RIP GUIDO TENESI” Cute boy: “A good guy is too early” Carlson wrote in X Thursday. “On behalf of me and Vicki, we express our sincere appreciation for my heart. He always had honor and rank. I prayed to the whole family and my fellow teammates and co-actors to pray for another loss of my teammate.”
In another post Friday, Carlson remembered Tenesi as the “eternal chief.”
“Relax, #5 – you’re the Chief forever,” he wrote.
