Volvo Group and Daimler Truck partners launching Koletura
Volvo Group and Daimler Truck on Tuesday It has been officially released Coretura is dedicated to developing standardized, software-defined vehicle platforms for commercial vehicles. The release follows a binding agreement between the two companies, signed in October 2024. By early June, the company had obtained all necessary regulatory approvals and started operations in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Coretura aims to build a dedifferentiated core software platform and dedicated commercial vehicle operating system as an OEM jockey to position itself at the forefront of digital transformation in the transportation industry.
“With Coretura, we set a clear strategic focus on software development for commercial vehicles,” said Karin Rådström, president and CEO of Daimler Truck in the release. “This is a very exciting step not only for us, but for the entire industry and our customers. Starting a digitally driven future for trucks and buses, ultimately making commercial vehicles smarter, more efficient and more efficient than ever.”
Coretura activities include the specification and procurement of centralized, high-performance control units specifically designed for commercial vehicles. These units can process large amounts of data, allowing for decoupled software and hardware development cycles. The great advantage allows end customers to wirelessly purchase and update digital applications “in the air.”
The joint venture is led by a four-member management team consisting of two representatives from each shareholder company. Johan Lundén, who previously worked with strategic product planning, projects and innovation management for Volvo Group, has been appointed CEO.
“This joint venture combines the agility of startups with the stability and expertise of key shareholders,” Lundén said. “We are proud and energized to lead the digital transformation of the commercial vehicle industry, which is bound by the strong support of our shareholders and is committed to shaping the future of our industry.”
Despite the partnership, Volvo Group and Daimler Truck will remain competitors and will continue to distinguish between offerings of products and services, including their respective digital solutions. Coretura accepts collaboration with new and traditional suppliers and partners who share its values.
Starting with about 50 employees, the company is expected to be first launched in vehicles by 2030 and will gradually grow.
