Boxing Results: David Stevens Conquers Petr Khamukov: Unanimous decision
Super middleweight David Stevens (14-2, 10) defeated previously undefeated Russian Petrukhamkov (13-1, 6 KOs) with a 10-round unanimous decision on Friday night at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.
In the first two rounds, Stevens outperformed Hamkov. In the final minute of the third round, Kamkov shook Stevens and held him. In the fourth and fifth rounds, Stevens was back enough to win both rounds.
In the final minute of the sixth round, Stevens’ mouthpiece came out. Judgment Reikorona attempted to reinsert the mouthpiece into Kamkov’s mouth until he pointed to Stephens. Corona gave it to Stevens without washing it away. In the final minute of the eighth round, Kamkov surprised Stevens with a solid jab in his chin.
In the final seconds of the ninth round, Kamkov took Stevens to the ropes and made the round. In the final round of the 10th, we finished nearby and exchanged.
The scores were 97-93, 97-93, and 97-93.
In his co-starring, super welterweight Leonard Druis (16-1, 8 KOs) defeated Jarrod Tennant (9-5, 4 KOs) with an unanimous decision in the eighth round.
In the first round, a 40-year-old tenant covered Lewis. In the second round of the fifth, Lewis came back and took all the close rounds.
Lewis took control in the sixth and seventh rounds. In the eighth and final rounds, he worked as hard as he tried, Lewis couldn’t clean up the tenant and let him still.
The judges scored 80-72, 80-72, and 79-73. The judge was Jerry Cantu.
Welterweight Juan El Negro ‘Sanchez (9-0, 8 KOS) stopped Southpaw Yeis’ El Tigre ‘Gabriel Solano (15-6, 10 KOS) at 2:50 in the third round, with four knockdowns in the sixth round.
In the first round of the last minute, Sanchez landed the right on his chin and dropped Solano for an eight count from umpire Reikorona. In the final minute of the second round, Sanchez landed a right uppercut on his chin and dropped Solano for another eight count.
In the third round, a minute later, a gust of punches from Sanchez on the jaw dropped Solano for the third time. With the remaining minute, I hit a punch in the chin and it turned out to be Solano for the fourth time. With 10 seconds left, the referee Corona finally called for a halt, and Sanchez scored well.
The ultra-lightweight Leonardo Luvalkaba (9-1-1, 3 KOS) lost the split decision to Dorian Mendes (6-0, 2 Kos) in an action-packed battle.
In the first round, Mendes continued to advance at the counter at Luvalkaba. At the very end, Luvalkaba landed his right on his chin, taking Mendes a step back. Midway through the second round, Mendes turned a southpaw at another slugfest. In the third and fourth rounds, they went toe-toe in the middle of the ring, with Luval Caba having an edge.
In the fifth round, Luvalkaba drew blood from Mendes’ mouth. The action continued in the sixth final round. At the very end, Mendes landed an overhand on Luvalkaba’s chin and rocked him, but he returned with a score at the bell.
The scores were 59-55 for Mendes, 59-55 for Luvalcaba and 59-55 for Mendes. Jerry Cantu was a judge.
Welterweight Daniel Cruz (10-0, 3 KOS) defeated Sachin Rohira (8-4, 2 KOS) with a unanimous six-round decision.
The first three rounds were nearby, and Cruz went ahead and headed from Orthodox to Southpaw.
In the fourth and fifth rounds, Cruz went back and forth as he was swollen under his right eye. In the sixth final round, both squealed perfectly with the bell, and Cruz looked like the winner.
Scores were 60-54, 59-55, and 59-55. Reikona was a judge.
Bantamweight Alexis Alvarado (8-1, 5 KOS) defeated José Silva Gonzalez (5-0-1, 4 KOs) with a four-round unanimous decision.
In the first two rounds, Gonzalez was full of action as he began a southpaw and switched back and forth. Alvarado had a slight edge. In the final minute of the third round, Alvarado dropped Gonzalez with his right hand and scored an eighth count from umpire Reikorona. In the fourth final round, Gonzalez was back enough to hold onto his own.
Scores were 40-35, 40-35, and 39-36.
Featherweight Emiliano Alvarado (8-0, 5 KOS) defeated Antonio Mezia (2-2) with a unanimous decision in the fourth round. In the first round, in every action round that took less than a minute, Alvarado rocked a mezia to the right on his chin. In the second and third rounds, we went back and forth on actual SlugFest.
In the fourth final round, in the final 30 seconds, referee Jerry Cantu sought a low blow from Mezia after some warnings early in the fight.
The scores were 39-36, 39-36, and 38-37.
