Donald Trump supporter John Jones retires as UFC heavyweight champion

MMA Heavyweight Champion John Jones UFC Chairman Dana White has retired from the competition.
Jones is considered the biggest mixed martial artist of all time.
White says he informed Jones that he encouraged his decision to retire on Friday. With Jones’ retirement, Tom Aspinel now An uncontroversial heavyweight champion. Jones retires with a 28-1 record.

“John Jones called us last night and retired,” White said at a press conference in Azerbaijan. “John Jones has officially retired. Tom Aspinoll is the heavyweight champion of the UFC.”
Jones rose from the light heavyweight division in 2023 to win the free heavyweight championship at Cyril Gain. Jones defended the belt in a third round TKO victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in November.
Jones was an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump last year.
Jones performed a Trump signature dance after his victory over Myosic in November.

“I want to thank President Donald Trump for coming here tonight,” Jones said.

“I’m proud to be a great American champion and I’m proud to be a Christian American champion,” Jones added.
That night, Jones walked to where Trump was sitting with ringside. Elon Muskwho handed out his UFC title belts, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Tarsi Gabbard, sons Don Jr. and Eric, Kid Rick, Vivek Ramaswamy and singer Jerry Roll.
