The burgeoning autonomous taxi industry signed new players this weekend as Tesla officially debuted its Robotaxi service Cybercab in Austin, Texas on Sunday.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk At X, the Tesla AI Robotaxi launch began in Austin on Sunday afternoons, with customers paying a flat rate of $4.20.
The company will operate invitation-only Robotaxi rides run by several Model YS within the Geofeikens area of Austin during its launch. According to CNBC.

Tesla
Tesla’s entry into the Robotaxi service has been a long wait by investors and fans.

The billionaire Tesla CEO has shown in his past revenue call that Tesla owners can allow them to become part of the Robotaxi fleet when their vehicles are not needed.
He is turning his eyes to introducing Tesla’s Robotaxi services to Los Angeles and San Francisco after Austin, CNBC reported.
In April, Musk predicted that the Robotaxi service would “movement the financial needle in a considerable way” for the company.

Waymo

The autonomous driving company offers four cities, Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Austin, and four cities that are scheduled to be served next year in Atlanta, Miami and Washington, D.C. Waymo is also considering returning to New York City, with another X-post saying, “I applied for @NYC_DOT permit and applied to drive autonomously with experts behind the wheels while we are in the city,” and “advocating for a change in state law, one day, we can bring our completely autonomous ride service.”

Zoox, owned Amazonthere is a dedicated Robotaxis and a test fleet.
Its dedicated Robotaxis will provide rides to Zoox employees, their family and friends in Las Vegas, San Francisco and Foster City, California, the company said.

Zoox’s test fleet, Manned modified SUVin a handful of cities, including the San Francisco Bay Area, Las Vegas, Seattle, Austin, Miami, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. According to a press release from the company, the expansion to Los Angeles and Atlanta took place earlier this year.

Amazon-assisted self-driving taxi fleet will soon be attacked by public vehicles on Las Vegas Street
Zoox said in late May, “We recently launched the Zoox Explorer program in Las Vegas, and invited Select Riders to experience Zoox Robotaxi and provide free feedback on upcoming services.” The company said it is targeting the wider launch of Robotaki to the Las Vegas public “late this year.”
It also said it is about to start offering San Francisco’s Lobotaki rides in 2025.
Earlier this week, Zoox revealed that it has opened its “first-time cereal production facility” for US Robotaki, a 220,000-square-foot hayward in California.
