Netflix is quickly removing one of my favorite games from its service
More than a year after Netflix added the award-winning game Hades On gaming services, the streaming giant will remove the game from that service on July 1st. No, I’m not crying, I have something in my eyes.
Supergiant Games released Hades in 2018 to almost universal praise before releasing the game on Netflix. He has won numerous awards including Game of the Year Action Game of the Year at the 24th Annual Dice Awards. It also made history as the first (and only ever) game to win Hugo Awardwhich is usually reserved for science fiction and fantasy literary works, but in 2021 we created a special category of video games. Despite the short tenure of awards, accolades and services, Netflix is removing titles from its gaming catalog.
The gameplay is smooth and fun. The storyline of a broken family reconstructing one run at a time was fantastic. The various characters you meet in your quest have such interesting backstory that it was easy to cheer for them, even when you had to fight and beat them. Hades is one of my favorite games and one of the only games I’ve bought and played on multiple platforms, and its removal hurts.
I like being able to play this game on my iPhone anytime, anywhere. If you need the same level of freedom after Netflix removes Hades, you have to start carrying your own switch wherever you go.
Hades isn’t the only one that Netflix is removing from its platform. I’ve removed about 20 other games including Monument Valley Trilogy released its third article in the Netflix Games series in December. Here’s a list of games that Netflix will immediately remove from its services: Unless otherwise stated, the last day you will play these games is July 14th.

Netflix Games has been in flux lately. The company previously announced it was the first large-scale multiplayer online role-playing game. Spirit Crossingsimilarly WWE 2Kwill be offering services later this year. However, the company has also cancelled a handful of game releases on its platform. The Shire of the Story.
Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters said in the streaming company’s fourth quarter Revenue Call In 2024, we continue to adjust our game strategy and focus more on story games based on Netflix content. “Like licensed titles like GTA, we want to do more recognizable mainstream titles, whether they’re homemade titles based on our IP,” he said.
To that end, Netflix has released a black mirror tie-in game Flock The same day in April, the company released the seventh season of the show. The game was featured in one episode of the season, and I felt that the game gave it more depth to the story the episode was telling.
The game is included in the price of your Netflix subscription (starting with $8 a month). You can access the game via the Netflix app on your mobile device. Netflix did not respond immediately to requests for comment. For more information about Netflix games, see what you should know Spirit Crossing, WWE 2K and grand theft auto A series about services.
