Carmelo Anthony charged with murder on suspicion of stabbing Austin Metcalf

An 18-year-old suspect in a stinging death Frisco, Texas Truckstar Austin Metcalf was charged by a major ju judge on Tuesday for first-degree murder.

Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalfe, told Fox News Digital he was happy to see the legal process unfolding, but there was nothing to bring his son back.
“I’m pleased that we’re moving forward,” he said. “With first-degree murder accusations, it’s now entering the court system. I fully believe that justice will serve Austin Metcalf. I look forward to future trials, but it will never bring my son back.”
In response to the charges, Anthony’s attorney Mike Howard posted a video statement on his law firm’s website.
“Today’s prosecution is an anticipated routine step in legal proceedings,” he said, adding that there are charges in almost every felony case.

“Only at trial, we can hear the perfect story and have that fair justice.”
“When the full story is heard, the prosecutors expect that they will not be able to rule out any reasonable doubt that Carmelo Anthony may have acted in self-defense,” he said.

Witnesses told officers he abandoned the scene after Anthony stabbed him. Metcalf died in the arms of his twin brothers.

After being initially detained on a $1 million bond, Anthony’s bond was cut to $250,000 and he was released to home confinement. No trial date has been set yet.
Anthony Family spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment.
