San Francisco bookstores remove “Harry Potter” with Rowling’s transgender attitude

a San Francisco Bookstores have pulled the popular Harry Potter series off the shelf with author JK Rowling’s defense of women’s rights in transgender Cultural War.
Booksmith of Haight Street announced on June 10 that the world-renowned author is no longer carrying Rowling’s book due to a recent decision to launch a legal fund to help women fight for “workplaces, public life, and protected women’s spaces.”

“In May 2025, author JK Rowling said Harry Potter Series for development’JK Rowling Women’s Fund“an organization dedicated to removing transgender rights in workplaces, public life, and protected women’s spaces.” With this announcement, we decided to stop carrying her books,” Booksmith announced.
“We don’t know exactly what her new ‘Women’ fund’ entails, but we know that we won’t be part of it,” the notice said.

The Rowling Fund does not directly address transgender rights. However, the author has faced immense backlash from transgender activists over the past few years to share her belief that women’s rights are threatened by the transgender movement.
The front page of the bookstore website asks for donations of “non-banned” drives. Bookstores have pledged to send “strange, positive, necessary” books to communities around the country.
Rowling representatives and Booksmith did not immediately return requests for comment.
