Shakur Stephenson claims Zepeda and his team are “ducking” him for the July 12 fight in Queens, New York
Shakur Stephenson says William Zepeda and his team were ducking him, and he finally got to “I locked him up.” For their fight in Queens, New York on July 12th. Stevenson says Zepeda’s team knew what kind of “special talent” he was. So they had no intention of fighting him before Zepeda (33-0, 27 Coss).
Zepeda was facing Shakur (23-0, 11 Kos), by far the best fighter, so it’s possible he would expose him. Stevenson approached his battle with Edwin de los Santos in 2023 and, fortunately, praised him for the weak shots that three judges landed.
The threat of Zepeda’s power
Zepeda has good powers, and the punches and masses in his body make him a real threat to Stephenson. This is a battle where the WBC Lightweight Champion Shakur can’t stand in his pocket and win. He has to move so that he doesn’t get overwhelmed by the punch.
“When I say this, they say, ‘He’s ducking me.’ It’s not just fighter jets. Dozen Boxing About his belief that William Zepeda and his team are ducking him. “So I’m not saying that specifically it was William Zepeda.
Stevenson went nothing for him until Tulki Aralschuk became interested in him and began using him on his events. So, fighters like Zepeda, Vasily Lomachenko and Gerbonta Davis had no money to clash with him, so it was pointless to fight him. Stevenson doesn’t interact with his enemies. So that was another reason why Zepeda and his team had no point in fighting him.
“I’m William Zepeda’s team and everyone around me is going to say that they know how good I am and how talented I am, how no fights were and how ducking me.
The majority of the reason Zepeda and his team weren’t in a hurry to fight Shakur is that he wasn’t popular, and criticism that ran all night in a fight with Edwin de los Santos in 2023, when Stevenson’s performance turned off many fighters. Both were booed in the battle for Shakur with Delos Santos. Stevenson to run, and Delos Santos to not catch him.
Stevenson’s Confidence: Trap?
“We locked him in, And on July 12th, I’ll be there to perform my best in my life,” Shakur said.
Stevenson would look stupid if he lost to Zepeda, as he sounds confident about heading into their fight on July 12th. He doesn’t have the offensive skills or powers that fit what Zepeda is about to throw at him. It’s pretty common for Shakur to run all night, but there are lots of boos as he’s fought in the stadium.
Interestingly, Shakur is not trying to lock in Andycruz, the number one WBC challenger, the way he wants Zepeda. He never mentions the name of Cruz, the 2020 Olympic gold medalist. This simply means that he sees him as a threat to his rule and makes him at every cost.
