Daniel Jacobs leaning towards Crawford above Canelo: skill set advantage?
Daniel Jacobs says Crawford’s skill set has led him to leaning towards Terrence Crawford, who played Canelo Alvarez on September 13th. Former two-time middleweight champion Jacobs feels Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) has the edge over uncontroversial super middleweight champion Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs) in the offensive statistical division.
The only thing Jacobs asks is whether Crawford can slow Canelo with his powers. Because if he can’t, he’ll walk him all night to put down his big shots. Crawford was unable to do that and reached 154 in his final battle with Isler Madrimov a year ago.
His powers were not lifted from 147, and he was very fortunate to be given victory after taking many punches from the stronger Madrimov. Many fans thought Crawford had lost. I saw that and Madrimov won 9-3.
There was a defect in the bivol comparison
“The biggest difference between Bibolu and Crawford is their size difference and power. Bibolu was the ultimate boxer, but he still managed to drive him away with pure power and power,” said Daniel Jacobs. Fighting Hub TVHe spoke about Canelo Alvarez, his last opponent to be defeated by Dmitry Biboll in 2022.
Jacobs forgets to mention Biboll’s time compared to Crawford. Bivol was 31 when Canelo lost to him in 2022. By contrast, Crawford turned 38 in September, and was rather old and small, less active in his career than Biboru, who fought Canelo three years ago.
Jacobs makes a strange comparison by mentioning Biboll along with Crawford, as he is totally different in terms of age, size, strength and activity. That’s an useless comparison.
“With Crawford, it’s challenging for Canelo to avoid his skill set, but not challenging for him to endure the pain. (For Canelo), “If you can’t hurt me, I’m going to keep moving forward.”
I don’t think it’s a challenge at all for Canelo. The challenge is that the Mexican star catches up to Terrence. Because he rides his bike like a battle with Isler Madrimov.
Crawford’s defense strategy
He spins around the ring, wins with a jab, throws a single shot, and tries to tie him down when Canelo tries to be close. That’s what Crawford saw against Madrimov in August last year. It looked like Shakur, but it’s mixed in with a lot of holdings. The difference in power is so important that Bad can’t stand and fight Canelo.
He tries to fight Alvarez first, but once he is attacked, he starts moving a lot. Turki Alalshikh may regret using Crawford as Canelo’s opponent. Because he doesn’t have enough interest to be an interesting match with the fans he watches on Netflix.
Many casual fans switch fights and start watching movies on that platform. Using Crawford was a bad idea, rather than one of the younger, bigger, more interesting fighters, including David Benavidez, David Morrell, and Osleys Iglesias.
Canelo’s views on Crawford
“So if Canelo can adapt to that mindset and take a shot, he’s going to throw, so if he can take a shot. Looking at the statistics in terms of how punch lands, Crawford is on the lead.
Crawford is weaker, slower, smaller, older and less mobile than Canelo’s last opponent, former IBF super middleweight champion William Skull. Crawford looked much weaker and slower than Skull in his final battle with Isler Madrimov in August 2024, 11 months ago.
Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Terence is a year older than him when he faces Canelo. He is neither stronger nor faster than what many felt was Madrimov’s loss. Looking at the combinations Bud is against him, this is not a 147 pound division, so you can’t choose him. He’s also getting older.
The impact of vacation
When Crawford defeated Errol Spence, which was made in a car accident in 2023, the person is no longer there. He’s old, and doesn’t help himself by taking a year-long break and long journeys on victory laps. He appears to be five years after his career-high victory over faded Spence.
It’s stupid to see Crawford do so with so much time, but it gives you a glimpse into his work ethic and how he enjoys basking in the glow of his victory. But he gets caught up in it and doesn’t want to go back to work.
