David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde breaks the set Riyadh season: “Dangerous” gatekeeper challenger
Turki Alalshikh revealed on social media today that David Benavidez will defend his WBC Light Heavyweight title “Dangerous” Anthony Jard was a candidate at the Riad Season event in November.
Fans are disappointed with the news of Torki, who is using yards as the opponent in the “Mexican monster” Benavidez’s next battle.
The yard is labeled a “ah” Choose to fans who see flawed fighters who fail when they stand up against quality opposition. He fights for a world title with talent like Benavidez.
The battle of Benavidez-Yarde has been confirmed
Yarde (27-3, 24 Kos) challenged the world title twice in his 10-year professional career, knocking out both times, losing to Artur Beterbiev and Sergey Kovalev. British fighter jet Yalde, 33 is a Gatekeeper type Fighter. He has great skills, but he doesn’t have the talent to win world titles.
Anthony ranks in #2 WBO, #4 WBA, #5 IBF, and #5 WBC. That ranking shows the weakness of the lighter heavyweight division than on yard talent levels.
Since being knocked out in the eighth round by former unified 175-pound champion Betterviev in 2023, Yard has won his final four fights with less opposition. He has not been stepped up ever since that loss. In Yardo’s final battle, he defeated fellow Britlindon Arthur in April last year by a unanimous decision in the 12th round.
The reason that fight didn’t happen is not explained, but it is reasonable to assume that Smith and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, chose not to fight a dangerous fight. He is in a position to challenge the winner of the Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev Trilogy Match. It would be a bad career move for Callum to fight dangerous fighters like Benavidez and miss that opportunity for a bigger payday.
Benavidez: Will you resign from your opponent?
Yarde is a major step for Benavides to fight WBA “regular” light heavyweight champion David Morell at the beginning of February this year. Benavides was lucky enough to receive many punishments from Cuban Morel in that fight and overcome it without being knocked out. Benavides was gassed in the championship round and dropped by Morel.
Analyzing Yarde’s gatekeeper status
Like many of the fights in Yardo, he looked strong early, but gasped at the midpoint of the fight and threw punches in the arms in the second half. He got the victory by running the coast with his early lead. That’s not something Yarde’s great, and it solidified the views fans already have about him being a gatekeeper-level fighter.
