NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The fireworks industry is hoping to reach the holiday on July 4th, but trade tensions with China are worried that sales will be bust down to America’s 250th birthday in 2026.

Fireworks and fireworks distributors hope that fireworks will be exempt from President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Chinese imports. Tariffs with China It will be held at 30% after the US and China agree to suspend the 90-day tariff increase. Trump’s tariffs on Chinese imports peaked at 145% in April.

However, these charges could be shot when the suspension ends in August.

“There’s been a constant change in tariffs and it’s been a bit of a roller coaster since February,” said Julie Heckman, executive director of the American Fireworks Association.

Fireworks prices remained stable on July 4th, but Heckman warned that supply could be low among newly released products. However, industry leaders believe that firework prices could rise next year.

“Essentially, all importers contacted suppliers in China and said, ‘Please don’t ship my product. I can’t afford to pay 145% customs duties,” Heckman said.
