Two people were killed in the Indianapolis shooting, while several others were injured.

Two people were killed in the shooting that injured at least seven people Indianapolis, Indiana, Police say it was early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the intersection of Westmarket Street and North Illinois Street around 1:30am. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Station I said.

“Our idea is the victim, their families, and the officers and first responders who rushed to the scene,” police wrote X.

Several roads were closed in the downtown area as officers investigated the scene.

Drivers and pedestrians were urged to avoid the area.

Sheriff says he was shot in South Carolina and killed in an ambush.

There is no information about potential suspects or what led to the shooting as of early Saturday morning.

The status of the surviving victims is also unknown at this time.
