Secret Service suspends six agents after an attempted assassination in Trump in July 2024

Six Secret Service agents were suspended without pay or benefits following an attempt by the gunman President Donald Trump I lived at a Pennsylvania rally last July.
Matt Quinn, deputy director of the agency; He told CBS News On Wednesday they said “we had no intention of leaving (their) paths,” but “we focused on fixing the root cause of the problem.”
Quinn added to the outlet that agent penalties ranged from 10-42 days of unpaid leave and were placed in a limited role with less responsibility after returning to work. He said disciplinary action follows a federal mandatory process.
Fox News Digital contacted the Secret Service for independent confirmation, but did not receive a reply by the time of publication.

The agency faced heavy criticism following security failures and allowed gunman Thomas Crooks to fire at the rally’s stage Butler, Pennsylvania, July 13th, 2024.

“The Secret Service is entirely responsible for Butler,” Quinn told CBS. “Butler is an operational failure and today we’re focused on ensuring that it doesn’t happen again.”
He also said the agency is focusing on the “root causes” of operational failures and correcting “the flaws that put us in such a situation.”
Since the Butler Rally, Quinn said the Secret Service has introduced a new fleet of military-grade drones and mobile command posts to improve radio communications with local law enforcement agencies.

The agency faced more criticism weeks later when Trump’s second assassination attempt was made in West Palm Beach, Florida. It was stopped, but then secret service director Kimberly Cittle resigned, and the agency underwent several investigations, and Congress hearing.
The bipartisan House Task Force has published a 180-page report stating that the incident at Butler was “preventable” and that the issues of leadership and training that “created the environment” when security obstacles are possible are “preventable.”

In the report, lawmakers also pointed out that the Secret Service has not coordinated or planned well with local law enforcement agencies.
