Leighton Orient Stun Manchester City Ortega’s own goal advances the host

Manchester City was in danger of suffering from the FA Cup shock from the earthquake this afternoon after Stephen Ortega’s own goal advanced the League One Side Leighton Orient on Brisbane Road.

City had already survived some horrors when Tottenham-only striker Jamie Donley picked up the ball in the middle and made a great effort over Ortega from 45 yards in the 16th minute.

The ball hit the bottom of the bar and hit the backtracking goalkeeper before crossing the line.

City felt that the buildup at debutant Nico Gonzalez had been fouled by Sony Perkins, but umpire Darren Bond had shaken off their protests.

Richie Wellnes’ men were worthy of the progressive start that caused the city’s highly altered backline to cause the end of the problem.

And if that wasn’t bad enough for City, Gonzalez, a £50 million purchase from Porto on the deadline, had to limp with what was visible the hip injury sustained in the challenge from Perkins.
