In testimony to Congress on Tuesday, the mother shared heartbreaking details about how her son, the U.S. Marine Corps veteran, was shot. Illegal immigration On South Texas property under the Obama administration.
Marie Vega, a legal immigrant from Mexico, shared the disastrous experience of her testimony at a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on Tuesday on “Biden Border Betrayal.”

Her son and husband tried to return the fire. However, in the attack, her son, Javier “Harvey” Vega Jr. Former Marine A border patrol officer was killed. Meanwhile, her husband is suffering from permanent injuries from the incident.

Vega said he tried to protect his grandson and looked at him helplessly like a son. I shot it in the chest.
In tears, Vega replied, “Do you know what it’s like to watch your son get off after being shot? Do you know what it’s like to hear a gunshot, or how a bullet passes by you?
“Do you know what it’s like for your son to hear his father’s final words?” It was his last words to continue filming, she added, “It should never have happened.”

She called the ordeal a “nightmare” and said, “I had my husband, so I hadn’t returned the fire, the illegals would have killed everyone there and left no witnesses.”
Vega’s testimony said the two illegals had previous criminal records, threatening other neighbors in the community, and were previously deported. She said she lives with “survivor’s guilt” and struggles to sleep at night due to trauma.
“Open borders have consequences, and you can see from what I have experienced due to crimes committed by illegals. The pain lives with us for the rest of our lives.”
“11 years was something I struggled to survive without a baby,” she said. “I lived with flashbacks in the moment I woke up. For 11 years, we celebrated boys’ birthdays, graduations, weddings, new families, new careers and amazing achievements without my baby.
“Illegal aliens have influenced American life in very negative ways,” Vega continued. “They don’t consider human life. As I witnessed firsthand, the illegals who killed Harvey shot my husband in the back, shot innocent children and women. My grandson and his friends were only eight and eleven years old.

She concluded, “If our immigration laws were in effect, my son would be here.”

Speaking to the senators of the subcommittee, Vega said, “You have given the Constitution and have made a vow to work for our people. That means working with fellow politicians, regardless of which side of the aisle you are on.
