Red Sox fans urged them to skip buying drinks at Fenway Park when workers are on the verge of strike

The staff represented here by Unite include the local 26 Union, including chefs, barbags, souvenir vendors, utility workers, cashiers and other staff who work at the ballpark and nearby music venues.

Earlier this week, workers at Fenway Park and Music Hall concessions and restaurants encouraged fans to buy their favorite drinks and food outside the ballpark gates as workers threatened Pickett.

Last month, Aramark employees and Unite members voted in favor of an unprecedented labor attack. The Boston Herald reported.

“Aramark and the union did not make any major progress towards the agreement during the latest negotiation session last week,” the union said at the time.

“The result… Fenway workers are ready to take the strike for the first time in the history of the 113-year-old American favourite ballpark.”

The latest contract between workers and employers expired almost seven months ago.

Employees claim to be “fighting” for multiple “critical demands” in a potential new deal. In addition to higher wages, workers would like to see the implementation of a “guardrail on automation” and a scheduling system that “respects workers’ seniority.”

According to local 26, cashiers at Fenway Park earned $18.52 per hour, Miami Marlins Loandopot Park in Miami, who holds the same position, is paid $21.25 per hour.

“The union representing Aramark concession employees has advanced today’s strike action. The Boston Red Sox is not a party to these negotiations, but continues to continue to communicate closely with Aramark,” the Red Sox said.

“They have assured them that they have continued to engage in a sincere discussion and have extended their new offer as recently as last night, which has been unfortunately denied by the union. Aramark is implementing an urgent staffing plan, with fans including access to all food, drinks and overall Fenway Park this weekend.
