Coin laundry Provide food and While drinks and entertainment may be spent in New York City, there are plenty of experiences in other parts of the country that make common chores fun. (See the video at the top of this article.)
A recent New York Times report shows that several “landvals” appear throughout Brooklyn over the past two years, focusing on “rethinking” the business as a hangout for the neighborhood.
But similar SUDS shops have been falling for decades, from Oregon to Ohio, Nevada and Oklahoma.

For example, sudss n’suds in Reno, Nevada, started serving up Beer, wine, Snacks and slot machines from the early 1980s as part of a large franchise. They screamed during the 2021 episode of Family Guy.
Jimmy May and his wife, Brandi Johnson, took over Duds n’Suds in 2019.

“We’re offering a little extra to make it more difficult for people,” May told Fox News Digital.
He said his favorite part is seeing a man sent by his wife expecting a typical laundromat.

“Then they turn around and they look bar And they say, “Wait, do you have beer?”,” May said.
“So we got them a beer and Nathan’s hot dog or nachos, and the following week they came back like, ‘I’m doing the laundry’. ”

But it’s not all a fun game.
After more than 30 years, the Duds n’Suds lease is still at $9,000.
“That’s a lot of laundry that has to happen,” May said.
Morgan Gary and Anthony Fuzaro, Spin Laundry Lounge in Portland, Oregon, know a bit about the moving departments they need to stay in business.

“Spin was inspired by my experience in laundromats and areas that I wasn’t particularly excited about,” Gary said.
She opened her first spin location in 2014 with her current husband.

“We wanted to feel more like a cozy cafe than a laundromat, and we just have a small touch that really makes you feel like you’re at home,” Gary told Fox News Digital.
The business grew faster than she had imagined, and did it among the locals. Travelers passing by.

” Food and drink The elements are very important,” Gary said.
“That’s what put us on the map.”

Arcade games and pinball machines can be played on mezzanines overlooking the coin laundry, which was once a metal factory.

Gary and Fusalo ran laundromats and cafes for seven years, but during the Covid-19 pandemic they paused food and drinks.
Earlier this year, they partnered Brave Neighbor’s Cafe To get it back.

Gary said running both sides of the business was a challenge, and the partnership allowed them to focus on providing the best possible laundry experience and giving back to the community.
Spin works with nonprofits to provide free laundry vouchers. They also host concerts and “wash parties” where people learn how to care for certain clothing, such as the need for damp cities like raincoats.

What Spin’s Gary likes is to collect and wash dozens of single socks left every day, and donate to the shelter.

“It’s our little way to give you something useful that might otherwise go to the trash,” she said.
In the future, they hope to host more events and ultimately expand their delivery services.

Gary said she enjoys watching similar businesses follow in the footsteps.
“When we opened years ago, there were some before us, but that was a pretty new concept,” she said.
