Eddie Howe is uncertain that Liverpool is hiding, acknowledging Alexander Isaac’s future in Newcastle
Eddie Howe hopes that Alexander Isaac will stay in Newcastle, but acknowledges that there is “what’s going on behind the scenes” as the striker contemplates his travels away from Tyneside.
Isak is not with the rest of his troops during his pre-season trip to Asia. However, it was soon revealed that Newcastle claimed Starman was not fit, and reports were revealed that Isaac was exploring a move from St. James Park.
Isaac has been tracked by Liverpool for the past few weeks, but he has been reportedly offered a lucrative contract from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.
Despite his absence, the center of attention
It puts Hau in a tricky position, and, naturally, the subject dominated his press conference prior to his friendliness with Arsenal in Singapore.
“There’s something going on behind the scenes. He’s sure he’s in the news every day, and I’m sure it’s not easy for anyone,” he said.
“The conversations that occur between Alex and the club, or Alex and myself, remain private. We share a really good relationship with him. He’s been great for us since he joined. He’s been so popular in the dressing room and I hope to continue his journey in Newcastle.”
There are currently no new ISAK contracts – Hau
Newcastle fans are asking Isaac to be handed over a new deal to persuade him to stay, but Howe has admitted that it is not on the agenda at the moment.
“That will be at a later date,” he added that Isaac still has three years left in the current deal.
“It can still happen in the sense that we are rushing towards the end of the window very quickly from our perspective due to the situation and the condition of the window.”
Hau claimed Isaac had a knock and just missed a 4-0 thrashing by Celtic last weekend, not just getting out of the trip.
He states: “With his injury, I don’t have a big update on it. He first mentioned his thigh just before the Celtic match, and we thought it was a very minimal injury and not so serious.
“Then on Monday after the Celtic game, he came in from training so early, so he wasn’t feeling well, so he’s now injured in Newcastle.
