Secretary of State Marco Rubio is attacking a Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro On Sunday, South American countries will hold city elections to fill hundreds of mayoral positions and thousands of council seats.
The municipal contest takes place one day before the Venezuela presidential election. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has recently expanded pressure on Maduro.

“Maduro is the leader of the designated narcotelist organization Cartel de los Salles, and he is responsible for trafficking drugs to the US and Europe,” Rubio continued. “Maduro, currently being charged by our country, is corrupting Venezuelan agencies to support the US in cartel’s criminal drug trafficking scheme.”

According to the Treasury, the cartel “supports Tren de Lagua by carrying out its purpose of using illegal drug floods as a weapon against the United States.”
