Bubba Wallace first crossed the finish line with the Brickyard 400, and he made it. NASCAR History along the way.
Wallace became the first black driver to ever win Indianapolis Motor SpeedwayHistoric oval course.
It wasn’t an easy race for Wallace either. He overcame the rain delays, two overtimes and key concerns that Kyle Larson could go straight to his tail and escape the fuel.

However, Wallace won, winning his first race since 2022.
“Incredible,” Wallace told the team over radio waves after passing through the checkered flag.

On six laps, Larson reduced the gap in just three seconds from Wallace when the yellow warning flag came out due to the rain. A crash was then caused when the driver returned to the truck, forcing a second period of overtime.
Wallace’s team was worried that the extra laps would run out of gas, but the risk paid off by Wallace, who managed to survive the Larson surge.

The checkered flag snapped a 110-race unwinning streak taken by Wallace with a margin of 0.222 seconds.
Larson was looking for a fourth driver to become a back-to-back winner for Brickyards. Instead, Wallace won for the first time with one of NASCAR’s four crowned gems.

This victory also secures Wallace Cup Series Playoffsfour events remain until the 16-driver field is trapped in the 10-race postseason.
